Quinta do Estranxeiro 2021 'O Estranxeiro' Tinto, Ribeira Sacra DO Login In Stock

From the winemaker at the helm of the ancient Bodegas Zárate in Rias Baixas comes a project based in curiosity in nearby Ribeira Sacra.

Situated along the canyons of the Sil and Miño Rivers, Eulogio Pomares and Rebeca Montero tend to two steep hillsides of 50+ year old vines. A vineyard in the Amandi subregion, planted to granite and slate soils, sees southern exposure and warmer days compared to the second site in the Ribeiras do Miño subregion, where the Atlantic cools the sub region's long hot summers. Fruit from both vineyards are vinified together, resulting in a balanced yet energetic expression of Ribeira Sacra.

As we've seen time and again with the Albariños of Bodegas Zárate, skill and intention in the vines and cellar culminate in exciting wines. As Pomares continues to ascend, then so to do the wines of Ribeira Sacra.

Mencia here is old, but maintains a leanness in the bottle. The result is a fresh and mineral driven red wine — with an even brighter future to boot.
