RJ Viñedos is a family winery run by its founder Raul Joffre and his four daughters. The story begins in the 19th century with Raul´s great grandparents who dedicated themselves to viticulture in the South of France. In 1918, his grandfather immigrated to Argentina. As the first male grandchild, Raul quickly developed a sincere interest in the grapevine and the production of wine. Years later, Raul had a very successful international business career and in 1996 decided to reconnect with his family´s roots. He purchased a traditional cement tank winery in the Perdriel region of Lujan de Cuyo and a small vineyard in the Los Sauces region of the Uco Valley. In 1998 he founded Bodega RJ Viñedos with the simple hope of creating a family winery that produced high quality wines to share with his daughters, the other great passion of his life.
Today, the family owns 60 hectares in the Uco Valley as well as holdings in Alto Agrelo and to the north in the Cafayate Valley in Salta. The vineyards are all sustainably farmed. No chemicals are used in both the vineyards and the winery. The winemaker Sebastían San Martín believes in letting the grapes have their own voice and looks for purity of fruit with little intervention.
