Vineyard Notes: Sourced 100% from Sundance Vineyard. One of the oldest vineyards on the Wahluke Slope, planted in 1997. The site is topsoil over gravel, sand and broken down basalt with more caliche than other sites in the Wahluke. The vineyard, because of its aspect, is also a later ripening site allowing for great concentration.

Farming Notes: All vineyards are sustainably farmed, following organic principles. Zero pesticides, zero herbicides and zero adjuncts are used. Harvest is manual.

Winemaking Notes: 2.9 tons per acre. 100% whole cluster fermentation with native yeast, 45 days on skins. 31% new French oak puncheons, 22 months aged on lees. Bottled from gross lees, unfined and unfiltered. Vegan friendly.

Tasting Notes: It punches way above its weight class. It starts with crushed volcanic rock, black raspberry, mint and fresh ground espresso, then continues on, asking you to explore its complexity with forest floor, black cherry, cedar box, dark soy and crushed fresh grain.

Vinified in concrete tanks and aged in 31% new French oak barrels, the 100% Syrah 2019 Syrah The Deal offers up a more finesse-driven, seamless style as well as full-bodied richness, ultra-fine tannins, and perfumed notes of both red and black fruits as well as some graphite and peppery herb nuances. Beautifully balanced and elegant, with moderate acidity and terrific finish, it's going to keep for 8-10 years. It's a brilliant value.

Unmistakable on the nose, the 2019 Syrah The Deal Sundance Vineyard offers aromas of black fruit, roasted plums, hints of black pepper and smoked meat while roasted herbs and wilted red flowers sway out of the glass. Medium to full-bodied, the wine displays balance and a delightful texture before revealing fine-grained tannins over the mid-palate. The 100% whole-cluster Syrah lingers with a long finish and is not overcomplicated by excessive oak usage, allowing this Syrah to conclude with a burst of floral and succulent fruit essences.

A sweet whiff of balsamic spice evolves into mentholated herbs, crushed rocks and currants as the 2019 Syrah The Deal smolders up from the glass. Like liquid silk and pliant, this impresses with its textural girth and balancing acid core, adding unbelievable energy as tart raspberry and minerals swirl. This cleans up beautifully with chalky tannins and staining of primary concentration that promise many years of positive evolution.
