Vineyard Notes: Titus' home vineyard is located on 40 acres of Napa Valley floor just north of St. Helena on the Silverado Trail. It has well-drained, sandy, alluvial soils and is characterized by its ability to produce complex wines with well-defined fruit flavors, gentle acids, and naturally balanced tannins. Titus' Ehlers Lane Vineyard lies to the north of the winery estate, on the northern boundary of the St. Helena AVA. The volcanic slope and rocky stream bed soils yield small Cabernet Sauvignon berries and concentrated fruit.

2022 Vintage Notes: Lower than average late winter rainfall in 2022 continued drought like conditions that encouraged bud break and an early start to the growing season. A sunny and warm Spring encouraged early canopy growth and flowering on schedule, that made for balanced berry set and a good-sized crop across all varieties. Summer conditions were near idyllic, and June and July were warm without being overly hot. That proceeded into veraison in late July and early August.

Winemaking Notes: The 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon was harvested in the three-week period from September 14th - October 5th. After picking, the fruit was gently destemmed and then pumped to tank. Fermentation occurred on the skins with macerations lasting 14-21 days. After draining at the completion of fermentation, the wine was racked to 60% new French and Hungarian oak barrels for aging. It was then racked quarterly for the first year before being racked to tank in April 2024 for bottling.

Tasting Notes: The 2022 Titus Cabernet Sauvignon is exuberant, lush, and well-rounded and shows off the Titus Ranch Estate to its fullest. The wine is filled with ripe plum, cocktail cherry, and blackberry fruit notes that are generously spiced with cardamom and nutmeg notes. The palate is bountiful and round with a delightful lushness. Round tannins give focus and grace to the mid-palate and finish. The wine lingers with delightful oak and spice notes. Enjoy through 2036.

Based on 83% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Petit Verdot, and 4% Malbec, the 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon reveals currants and blue fruits intermixed with graphite and chocolaty oak. Medium to full-bodied and nicely balanced, it shows the open-knit style of the vintage, offering smoky black and blue fruits in a pleasure-bent style. This impeccably made effort represents solid value. Drink over the next 6-8 years.

An excellent value, the 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon from Titus is marked by slightly high-toned cherry fruit joined by hints of vanilla and pipe tobacco. A full-bodied blend of 83% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Petit Verdot and 4% Malbec, it delivers an intriguing juxtaposition of red cherries and darker, loamy notes. It's supple, almost creamy across the mid-palate, then softly dusty on the finish.
