Vineyard Notes: Barbera grapes are harvested by hand from vines in Barbaresco, Neive, and Alba, with most planted in the south-facing Ca' Grosso Cru in Barbaresco. Vines average 30 years old.
Winemaking Notes: After total destemming, the must ferments spontaneously in stainless steel tanks. Cuvaison lasts 10-14 days. Following spontaneous malolactic fermentation, the wine is blended and aged for 12 months in 50 to 60hl neutral Slavonian oak botti.
Tasting Notes: Embracing Barbera's trademark high acidity, fatty foods work beautifully with the De Forville Barbera; think red meat or even salmon. Pasta with red sauce also pairs beautifully. Its balance of deep color and anthocyanin, high acidity, and low tannin accompany notes of red cherry, raspberry, and spice.
