Baron Filippo Cornacchia started growing Montepulciano vines at the end of the 19th century and is considered the pioneer in the aging and bottling of Montepulciano in Abruzzo.

Winemaking Notes: The grapes are certified organic with some biodynamic practices. Preparation of the pied de cuve (yeast starter) takes place 7 days before harvesting. Harvest is manual and takes place in the first half of October. Fermentation occurs spontaneously in stainless steel with controlled temperature. Maceration on the skins lasts for about 10 days in a horizontal tank with a daily pump overs. The Casanova Montepulciano d'Abruzzo ages for 12 months in 30-hectoliter Slavonian oak casks, followed by an additional 3 months in bottle.

Tasting Notes: A complex bouquet shows notes of cassis, plum, dark cherry, and herbs. This is a deep wine with tannins that fill the mouth and begs to be paired with meat. A thread of acidity harmonizes the wine's intensity. Finish is long and smooth. This is Italy in a glass!
