Winemaker Notes: Cabernet Sauvignon is our flagship wine for La Sirena, and the best example of the elegance, balance, and beautiful opulence that I strive for in my red wines. Cabernet Sauvignon is what I am best known for, what I have built my 30+ year reputation on, as well as my favorite wine to make. Cabernet lovers will recognize the winemaking style which is similar in blend profile to the famous and much-loved Screaming Eagle wines I made previously. With the richness & depth of Napa Valley Cabernet fruit on display, La Sirena Cabernet Sauvignon has a 25+ year tradition of age-worthiness, velvety structure & powerful presence that has impressed wine lovers around the world. - Heidi Peterson Barrett

Tasting Notes: The 2019 La Sirena Cab is a deep, inky vermillion hue in the glass and leads with open ripe black fruit character on the nose. Notes of blackberry, currant, boysenberry, black cherry, licorice, cedar, all-spice and toast invite you to take a sip. This wine is big and elegant with a broad, silky-yet-powerful mouthfeel and flavor profile. Cherry and berry-like fruit dominate the palate, enhanced by a subtle accent of French oak and soft tannin structure. Delicious and balanced with finesse. A Napa Valley classic Cab that offers approachability on release but also tremendous potential for cellar aging.

    Rating: 95 (3/31/2023)

Never the biggest, most bombastic wines, Heidi Peterson Barrett's creations seem to always steer toward balance and elegance. Her La Sirena 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon features harmonious scents of dark loam, black cherries and five-spice powder. Vanilla and cedar are present but as accents, not centerpieces. The wine is medium to full-bodied and velvety in feel, with a lush texture and a lingering, harmonious finish.

Ripe blackberries, cassis, hazelnuts, sweet spices and hints of undergrowth. Full-bodied, juicy and succulent with a plush dark berry character and ripe, velvety tannins. Textured and even on the palate with a lengthy finish.

Blackcurrants, cherries, iron, leafy herbs, and underbrush notes all emerge from the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon, a medium to full-bodied 2019 with a supple, layered mouthfeel, light tannins, and a good finish. It's one of those charming, elegant Cabernet Sauvignons that grows on you with time in the glass. It should have 10-15 years of overall longevity.
