Pipeño is an old style of Chilean wine that was produced in a simple manner and meant to be enjoyed by farmers straight from the "Pip" or pipe. Cacique Maravilla makes this 100% País Pipeño that honors traditional winemaking in the Bio-Bio Valley from which it comes.

Vineyard Notes: Vineyards are comprised of volcanic sand formed by redeposited ash (known in Chile as trumao) and are dry farmed without any chemical intervention. Many of the vines used to produce the Pipeño are over 250 years old and have been in the care of Manuel Moraga's family for generations.

Winemaking Notes: Grapes are destemmed manually using the zaranda and fermented with native yeast in open top lagares of raulí (native Chilean wood). The free run juice is then transferred into pipas or barrels made of raulí. The wine is bottled unfiltered and without added sulfites.

Tasting Notes: This light-bodied wine shows red fruit with great acidity and balanced tannins. Serve slightly chilled. Anything less than a liter is not enough!
