About the Wine: Introducing Swick's flagship wine, an ever-changing creation reflecting each year's unique vintage. Pinot Noir consistently takes the lead; the 2021 vintage showcases exceptional complexity sourced from the esteemed certified organic Finnigan Hill Vineyard. Syrah, Grenache, and Mourvedre hail from the certified organic Conley Vineyard, while Touriga Nacional originates from the biodynamic Wilridge Vineyard. The Gewurztraminer is sourced from the practicing organic Lacewig Vineyard.
Winemaking Notes: All the varieties underwent spontaneous fermentation with native yeast and were blended prior to bottling. The only additive included in this wine was a limited amount of sulfites at the bottling stage.
Tasting Notes: Syrah brings the smoky leather. The Touriga Nacional brings the dark cherry. The Gewurztraminer adds floral aromatics. This is a delicious wine to drink with a warm bowl of beef bourguignon.
1 Keg = Roughly 26 750ml bottles
Sustainability & Freshness: Bag-in-box (BIB), cans, and kegs stand out as the most environmentally friendly options for enjoying wine, particularly for immediate consumption. Glass bottles represent nearly 50% of the wine industry’s carbon footprint according to several industry audits. Kegs, with their large volume capacity, play a role in minimizing packaging waste (glass bottles, corks, and labels). This results in a reduction in the number of shipments required, significantly lowering the overall carbon footprint associated with keg wine consumption. Kegs provide a sealed and inert environment, ensuring the wine’s freshness from the initial pour to the last, minimizing spoilage and reducing the need for additives or preservatives. Additionally, kegs are space-efficient, making them a practical choice for small bars and restaurants.
