Winemaking Notes: Stefano Perrone is a former motorcycle racer who took over his father’s domain in1989. Sourgal Moscato is Perrone's flagship Moscato. Perrone's vineyards are northwest-facing. He believes that ripeness is easy to achieve if yields are kept reasonable. The vineyards cool down faster in the evening, so the grapes retain more acidity and freshness. The vines are 25-60 years old with an average yield of 40 hL/hA. The grapes are harvested by hand. Sourgal is released in late November for immediate consumption. Moscato's virtue lays in its exuberance, explosiveness, and brightness. Best if drunk young to better catch all its vigor.

"A creamy textured Moscato that offers outstanding length and finesse in its classic varietal notes of crisp green apples, mint, flowers and spices. Simply put, this is as good as Moscato gets."

"The 2022 Moscato d'Asti Sourgal is quite distinctive in this vintage. There's plenty of creaminess and texture, but also bright Sauvignon Blanc-like hints of sage, mint and dried herbs woven into a core of green apple spice and ginger. In 2022, the Sourgal is on the exotic side."
