Vineyard Notes: Sangiovese is harvested by hand from three different Guyot and cordon-trained parcels on the property: Ficomontano, Melogranino, and Campo Cavalli. Vines are 15-30 years old.

Winemaking Notes: This vivacious wine spends 24 hours macerating on its skins before pressing and fermentation, which takes place in stainless steel with naturally occurring yeasts and without temperature control. As with all her wines, Maria Sole bottles Noble Kara without fining or filtration, and with a minimum additions of sulfites.

Tasting Notes: Named after one of Maria Sole’s grandfather’s favorite horses, Noble Kara claims its rightful place in the proud tradition of “real” rosé wines—rosés made from fully ripe, healthy grapes trusted to ferment on their own and allowed to express a natural depth of color (think great Cerasuolo d’Abruzzo here).

In the glass, the 2021 Roasto Noble Kara is a deep reddish hue with orange accents. It lifts up with a sweetly scented bouquet of wild strawberries, mint leaf and white smoke. It's softly textured with juicy acidity, mixing ripe wild berries and zesty citrus under rosy inner florals. The Noble Kara leaves a potent staining of red and blue fruit white remaining wonderfully fresh throughout the medium-length finale. This varietal Sangiovese is a rosato that dreamt of being a rosso, and I wouldn't be surprised if it improved a bit more in bottle over the next six months to a year.
