Winemaker Notes: Nicoletta Bocca has been the driving force at San Fereolo since she acquired the property in 1992, during which time she has mastered the terroir of her Valdibà subzone and completed the conversion to certified biodynamic (Demeter).
Terroir Notes: Nicoletta had to rip out her vineyard for her previous white wine Coste del Riavolo due to disease. Coste di Valanche is the new white wine of the estate. It is from young vines on a new vineyard. The grapes co-ferment and co-macerate for 6 days. The wine undergoes full malolactic fermentation. It ages in a mix of large neutral barrels.
Tasting Notes: Riesling and Gewurztraminer are fascinating aromatic varieties with very distinct personalities, both capable of passing the test of time and developing unique aromas. This wine is richly textured, with a freshness and acidity that speaks to both the Riesling character and the mineral soil.
