Domaine Milan 2013 'La Carree' Blanc, Vin de France (Provence)

About the Wine: The wine is called La Carrée because the parcel is a small square. 2013 was a rainy spring, then lots of sun without much heat. This wine is 100% Roussanne that is planted in a small parcel (0.3 hectares) in 100% blue clay. These vines were planted in 1991. Roussanne does great in hot weather, sun, and wind because of its thick skin. It’s a lush, full bodied white, but the blue clay's moisture aides to the high acidity, freshness, and balance of the wine. This is their superstar wine that does great on tasting menus.

Winemaking Notes: Whole cluster and direct pressed, the wine ferments in concrete tank and ages in 500 liter oak barrels for one year of which 50% is new.
