Vineyard Notes: Boniperti’s Fara is from a 1-acre vineyard he planted in 2007.
Winemaking Notes: Fruit is picked by hand during the first two weeks of October. The grapes are destemmed and gently pressed. Fermentation occurs in stainless steel barrels with a 20-day maceration. Malolactic fermentation occurs in wood. The wine ages in large 21-hectoliter oval barrels for 20 months. The barrels are made with Allier durmast. This type of wood, thanks to the soil where it grows, features round and sweet tannins that perfectly match Boniperti's Nebbiolo. The wine is not fined and goes through coarse filtration prior to bottling. The wine ages for additional four months in bottle before release.
Tasting Notes: Supple, clean, rich, red fruits, sandalwood, and baking spices: if you love Pinot Noir then you will love the 2018 Barton Nebbiolo.
94pts (2019 Vintage) Vinous 6/1/2023
“The 2019 Barton is a wine of real distinction. Macerated dark cherry, leather, licorice, spice, menthol and pine open gradually, revealing a wine of notable dimension and complexity. This deep, flavorful Fara hits all the right notes. Sweet spice and balsamic-tinged overtones linger.”
