Wine Notes: This is THE great Cabernet Sauvignon of Suvereto. A decade from now, we would not be surprised to see Gabbro replace Sassacaia as the ultimate Tuscan Cabernet. The wine is 100% Cabernet from older vines, some of which are 40+ years old. Fermentation occurs in 1,500-liter steel tanks. The wine ages for 18 months in French oak barrels (~60% new) and another 18 months in bottle before release.

Vintage Notes by Vinous 7/2022: "Fabio Chiarellotto has been on a tear over the last few vintages. The 2019s are seriously impressive, to say the least, and are a confirmation of the important work that continues to be done here. It is not easy to coax this level of nuance and character in Suvereto, one of the warmest micro-climates in Tuscany, but that is exactly what Chiarellotto and longtime consulting winemaker Fabrizio Moltard have done. I can't recommend these wines highly enough. - Antonio Galloni"

The 2019 Gabbro is fabulous. Dark and mysterious, the 2019 offers up a compelling melange of dark blue/black fruit, gravel, incense, licorice, smoke and spice. There's plenty of intensity and overall richness, but what distinguishes the 2019 most is its pure drive. Fabio Chiarelotto and longtime oenologist Fabrizio Moltard crafted a wine that reconciles Suvereto opulence with classic structure. The 2019 Gabbro is drop dead gorgeous. Don't miss it!
