Heidi Barrett’s Tasting Notes: "The wine is a medium garnet color with lovely aromas of red and dark plums, black cherry, and a little cranberry-like fruit. There is a savory spice element of Chinese 5 spice and some sweet toasty French Oak. Across the palate it is soft, elegant, with matching flavors to the aromatics. I get lots of plum, fruit, nice acidity and good length. This will be delicious with many food options so enjoy pairing with your favorites."

Vineyard Notes: The Paradigm vineyard lies between the Yountville Hill and the foothills of the Mayacamas Mountains. The vineyard includes 38 acres of Cabernet Sauvignon, 10 acres of Merlot, 2 acres of Cabernet Franc, 1.5 acres of Zinfandel and 1 acre of Petit Verdot. The vineyard lies solely on a northeast trending alluvial fan. A random sampling of 100 pebbles indicates over 95 percent of the rock fragments are volcanic. Rare but distinctive quartz rich sandstone were sampled. Read more about the terroir here .

Winemaking Notes: The grapes are sourced from Paradigm estate vineyards. The grapes are manually harvested and sorted in the field. Sorting occurs again by hand back at the winery via a conveyor belt. Pumping over is done by hand. The Merlot is aged in 100% French oak barrels for for 20 months and in bottle for an additional 14 months.
