Vineyard Sources: The Merlot comes from cooler, higher elevation sites located in Columbia Valley.

Aging Notes: The wine aged in mostly neutral French oak to keep the bright fruit flavors lively.

Tasting Notes: The 2019 Rook Merlot leads with dusty notes on the nose, followed by aromas of blackberry and plum with subtle, savory hints of leather and black pepper. The palate has a nice mouthfeel with dry, balanced tannins and offers flavors of blueberry, dark red fruit and grilled meat, backed up by vibrant acidity and a long finish.

Pairing Suggestions: Pair with a veal roast and cheesy cauliflower gratin.

    Rating: 87 (3/22/2022)

The 2019 Merlot Corvidae Wine Company reveals lighter red fruit flavors that collide with minerals and sagebrush undertones on the palate. Consume over the next few years.

    Rating: 88 (5/11/2023)

The 2019 Rook opens with a plummy and juicy frame of ripe fruit on the nose. Medium-bodied, the wine is clean and correct on the palate with a dusty and rocky essence followed by notions of mocha and blackberry skin in the mouth. The wine continues to evolve before gliding to a simple but delightful finish. It’s a great value.
