Winemaking Notes: Harvest is done by hand. After pressing the grapes, the must ferments in steel tanks at a controlled temperature. The Tasmorcan Barbera matures in 25-hectoliter oak barrels for 4-6 months, while 30% of it is in 225-liter French oak barrels until ready for bottling.
Fruit Source: The Barbera is from a section of the Mongovone Vineyard that was planted in 1999. Stefano produces Barbera that captures the ethereal freshness and vibrancy for which the Asti zone is famous.
About the Label: Tasmorcan means badger in Piedmontese. As the story goes, badgers kept eating the newly-planted Barbera vines, so Perrone named the wine after the animal. #honeybadgerdontcare
Tasting Notes: Compared to other Barberas, Barbera d’Asti is known for its relative brightness in color, elegance, and full yet refined body. Barbera d'Asti can be enjoyed young or old, with younger wines offering higher acidity and more pronounced fruit. Due to its unique combination of low tannins and high acidity, the wine is versatile when pairing with food.

"The 2021 Barbera d'Asti Tasmorcan is a racy, flamboyant wine that shows the house style off to great effect. Super-ripe red cherry/plum fruit, mocha, rose petal and dried herbs all scream out of the glass. The Tasmorcan is not at all subtle, but it does offer a compelling interplay of super-ripe fruit and savory/earthy undertones."
