Vineyard Notes: Grapes for the Zorzal Terroir Unico Pinot Noir are sourced from a single vineyard in the Gualtallary region of the Tupungato Valley. The vineyard is located at 4,264 feet above sea level and was planted in 2007. It is comprised of sand, chalk and stones.

Winemaking Notes: Grapes are manually harvested. The winery is renowned for having state-of-the-art technology in crushing, fermentation and aging. The winery was designed on four levels in order to transport the grapes and wines by gravity without the use of pumps. Malolactic fermentation occurs, and the wine is aged in bottle for 5 months. This wine does not see any oak; this is done to let the fruit-driven quality of the wine shine. Only indigenous yeast are used.

Tasting Notes: Bright red fruits, predominantly raspberry, jump out of the glass with gamey notes, cola, dried leaves, and forest floor. The mouthfeel is rich, soft, and supple with light tannins and medium acidity. The chalky soil comes through in the long finish. This is great with or without food.

The unoaked and fruit-driven 2019 Terroir Único Pinot Noir has some floral and perfumed characteristics. It's a light red with 12% alcohol and a medium-bodied palate with very fine tannins and great clarity of fruit. It has a very light color, and the wine is delicate and varietal. It finishes with explosive flavors of red cherries. Delicious! It was bottled in December 2019 after eight months in concrete eggs.
