Terroir Notes: The Ca' Nova estate vineyards, planted between 1996 and 2000, are situated in the Novara hills and Ghemme. This is the land of ancient moraines formed by glacial sediment from Monte Rosa deposited in the valleys between the Sesia and Ticino rivers.
Winemaking Notes: The grapes are manually harvested. After the Nebbiolo bunches are crushed and destemmed, alcoholic fermentation occurs in thermo-conditioned tanks for 8 days. The wine is then transferred to large French oak barrels for naturally occurring malolactic fermentation. The Bocciolo Nebbiolo is bottled during the summer and refined for at least 6 months before being released.
Tasting Notes: In the glass, this 100% Nebbiolo is a brilliant shade of ruby with purple hints. The bouquet is vinous and fragrant, with notes of ripe cherries and currants and an elegant floral coloring. The palate is lively, pleasantly structured with a light but characterful tannic texture.
