Tasting Notes: The i Clivi Ribolla Gialla is aromatically neutral with hints of lemon zest. The palate is crisp and lean; it's marked by refreshing citric acidity and a long sapid texture. Minerals and salinity define the beautiful finish.

Winemaking Notes: Manually harvested whole clusters are gently pressed in order to extract only the first and cleanest part of the must, which is immediately pumped to a stainless steel vat where most solids and heavy parts decant overnight. In the morning, the upper part is racked off the bottom to another stainless steel tank. Fermentation occurs spontaneously with native yeast. The Ribolla Gialla matures on its fine lees for 6 months to avoid reductive effects and to gain the stabilization and anti-oxidative benefits that these natural components bring. The wine is bottled with a light filtration, meant only to eliminate the cloudiness brought by the floating lees. 30 mg/L of SO2 are added. The total SO2 is 50 mg/L.

Bright pale yellow. Clean aromas of peach, pineapple, apple, white pepper and minerals, with suggestions of exotic fruits; as pretty as this nose is, it strikes me as being less deep than usual for this wine, normally one of the best Ribolla Giallas of the region. Then also rather gently flavored, with yellow apple and pear notes offering lovely if almost too delicate inner-mouth perfume and verve. Finishes crisp and medium-long, with a hint of minerals at the back. This is a lovely but very simple example of Ribolla Gialla by I Clivi’s normally very lofty standards, the result of their having to harvest earlier than usual due to 2018’s difficult weather. Still, I like this wine’s early appeal and knockout mineral purity.
