Terroir Notes: The particular clay soils of the Orangerie coexist with Béru hillside's terroirs, which are among the stoniest soils of Chablis. The clay brings soft and gentle textures to the wine as well as a nice ripe, aromatic fruity taste. Yet, because the vine roots plunge deep into the limestone subsoil, the wine keeps its typical complex Chablis nervous and mineral characteristics.
About the Name: This cuvée is named after an old Renaissance building next to the vineyard that housed trees and plants during the winter months. This small plot planted near the Clos Béru is surrounded by ancient fig, apple and pear trees. It is an orchard, set in the heart of Chablis.
Winemaking Notes: The grapes are harvested by hand. The harvest is directly pressed at a low pressure. The wine then ferments and ages in oak barrels for 18 months. The Orangerie is bottled without fining or filtration. No SO2 was added to this bottling, which is symbolized by the brown label. In contrast, Beru wines with white labels means some additions of sulfites were made.
