Vine Age: Vines are 80 years old and the oldest at i Clivi.

Tasting Notes: This Malvasia is slightly aromatic marked by very gentle chamomile aromas. There is a floral elegance as well. Acidic yet delicate on the palate, it has a nice textural balance.

Winemaking Notes: Grapes are manually harvested. Whole clusters are gently pressed in order to extract only the first and cleanest part of the must, which is immediately pumped to a stainless steel vat where most solids and heavy parts decant overnight. In the morning, the upper part is racked off the bottom to another stainless steel tank. Fermentation occurs spontaneously with native yeast. The i Clivi Malvasia Vigna 80 Anni matures on its fine lees for 12 months to avoid reductive effects and to gain the stabilization and anti-oxidative benefits that these natural components bring. The wine is bottled with a light filtration, meant only to eliminate the cloudiness brought by the floating lees. 30 mg/L of SO2 are added. The total SO2 is 50 mg/L.

    Rating: 94 (1/8/2020)

Luminous straw-green. Green apple, pear, chamomile, mint and white flowers on the nose. Then juicy and dense, with lovely pristine yellow apple and pear flavors that linger impressively on the crisp mineral finish. A beautifully nuanced wine. The Vigna 80 Anni name refers to the eighty years old age of the vines, but in fact the vines today are even older than that. A knockout Malvasia Istriana.
