La Cayetana is the sister project to Ver Sacrum and the name of the historic estate Finca La Cayetana, stewarded by husband-and-wife winemaking team Eduardo Soler and Amelia Armando Soler. Deeply rooted in history and regeneration, La Cayetana embodies a long-term vision of farming, restoration, and heritage preservation in Mendoza.
Eduardo and Amelia purchased Finca La Cayetana in 2014 and began an ambitious restoration of an abandoned manor house dating back to 1865 in Cruz de Piedra, Maipú, just twenty minutes outside Mendoza’s city center. The estate’s origins extend to the mid-1800s, when vineyards once covered more than 160 acres. Over generations, the finca welcomed cardinals and generals alike, serving as both an agricultural and cultural landmark. A historic library remains on site, preserving documents and books that trace the evolution of the estate and the wider region.
The La Cayetana wine project was formally founded in 2016, with the first wines released in 2020. These wines are sourced from vineyards in the Uco Valley, while the finca in Maipú functions primarily as an experimental vineyard nursery. Here, Eduardo and Amelia focus on massale selection and the propagation of new vines for both Ver Sacrum and La Cayetana. Alongside the vineyards, they continue to revive the estate’s gardens and olive trees, guided by ancestral farming techniques and a deep commitment to long-term sustainability.
Living on the property, the couple also operate a small restaurant and tasting room, inviting visitors to experience the wines in direct dialogue with the land. A tour of the restored manor house is a particular highlight, offering a rare and immersive glimpse into Mendoza’s agricultural past and its thoughtful revival through La Cayetana.
