Nestled in southeastern France, the Ardèche is a landscape defined by limestone cliffs, winding gorges, and ancient caves. Its varied soils and climate support an impressive diversity of grape varieties. The region has long attracted small, visionary domaines thanks to its well-priced old-vine plantings, a tight-knit and supportive natural winemaking community, and a landscape of striking natural beauty. Today, Ardèche stands as one of France’s most dynamic wine regions, and Grégory Guillaume has been an important part of that story since 2011.

Originally a pro-spelunker drawn to Ardèche’s cave systems, Grégory eventually traded one set of caverns for another. Starting with just 1.5 hectares, he has slowly expanded the domaine to 3 hectares of Grenache, Merlot, Syrah, Alicante, Chardonnay, and Grenache Blanc planted on clay-limestone soils. The vineyards are certified organic (Ecocert) and teem with biodiversity, which is an essential part of his broader philosophy of honoring nature and working in harmony with it.

Located in the same village as Les Deux Terres, Grégory is part of the new wave of Ardèche growers placing the region firmly on the map for low-intervention wine. His philosophy is simple and sincere: he makes natural wine because it’s the only kind he enjoys drinking.

The cellar is a no-frills shed on the outskirts of Villeneuve-de-Berg. All the wines are zero-zero, fresh, light, and a candid expression of fruit and place. Simple equipment and gentle, deliberate handling allow Grégory’s sensitivity to texture and aromatics to shine. The resulting wines are endlessly compelling.
