For more than 15 years, Jean-Marie Berrux has been crafting beautiful natural Burgundy wines from his 1.5-hectare vineyard near Puligny-Montrachet. Originally from Savoie, where his uncle’s organic farming inspired his connection to the land, Jean-Marie’s journey began far from the vineyards. A career in advertising brought him to Paris, but in 1999, seeking a deeper connection to nature, he left city life behind to pursue a degree in oenology at the university in Beaune.
After graduation, Jean-Marie gained valuable experience working with other winemakers before acquiring a small vineyard at the base of Puligny-Montrachet. Settling in Meursault, he quickly built a home and began constructing his winery. Fully committed to a philosophy of biodynamic farming and natural winemaking, Jean-Marie has avoided all interventions in the vineyard and cellar from the outset, allowing the terroir to express itself with purity and precision.
In 2004, Jean-Marie released his first vintage, naming the cuvée “Le Petit Têtu”—French for “a little stubborn”—as a tribute to his determined character. His wines are aged in oak barrels in a cellar beneath his home and bottled in the courtyard of his family property. Produced in small volumes, these wines are crafted with meticulous care, showcasing his unwavering attention to detail. Over the years, Le Petit Têtu and Le Têtu have become reference points in the world of natural Burgundy, celebrated for their elegance, vibrancy, and authenticity.
