Vineyard Notes: Each varietal is sourced from a different parcel. The Malbec was planted in 1920, the Carignan in 1950, and the Syrah in 1960. All the vineyards are at around 320 feet above sea level, and the soils are composed of paleozoic granite. Vines are gobelet trained and farmed organically.

Winemaking Notes: Grapes are harvested by hand and fermented spontaneously. Wine ages for 12 months in old, neutral barriques. Wine is bottled unfined and unfiltered.

Tasting Notes: The wine is rich in color with notes of blue and black fruits, white pepper, mocha, and caramel apple that are wrapped in curry spices and hints of dill. The palate is well balanced with ripe tannins, a bright mid-palate, and smooth and velvety finish.

The 2017 Tinto Super Itata is a blend of Malbec, Syrah and Carignan from old vines in the Itata Valley. Ruby-red in hue. The nose offers plum and cherry with a little pomegranate. In the mouth, the reactive tannins dry out the gums a little and the cleansing acidity makes for a rough and ready character overall.
