Baron Filippo Cornacchia started growing Montepulciano vines at the end of the 19th century and is considered the pioneer in the aging and bottling of Montepulciano in Abruzzo.

Winemaking Notes: The grapes are grown using organic practices and are certified organic. Harvest is manual and takes place in the first half of October. Maceration on the skins lasts for 5 to 6 days in a horizontal tank with a daily pump over. Fermentation occurs in stainless steel. Wine ages for 6-8 months in 30-hectoliter Slavonian oak casks, followed by an additional 3 months in bottle.

Tasting Notes: The bouquet is complex with fruity notes of cassis, plum, black cherry and a hint of herbs. The flavors mimic the aromas on the palate, which has velvety soft tannins balanced by great acidity. The finish is long and smooth. A wine of great harmony and intensity, it is Italy in a glass. Pair this Montepulciano with grilled meat, mushroom dishes, polenta, or meaty pastas.

Fresh fruity aromas of violet and dark berries. Then bright, juicy and fresh, with similar flavors of the aromas, lifted by harmonious, lively acidity. Finishes juicy and long, leaving the palate bright and clean. A really lovely entry-level Montepulciano d’Abruzzo made from organic grapes.
