This domaine in Lachassagne, south of Villefranche, was created by the Marquis de la Guiche, at the time owner of the Château de Lachassagne over 150 years ago. It was bought from la Guiche by the grandparents of the current owner Bernard Vallette. He has 6.5 hectares densely planted at 10,000 vines per hectare and cultivated organically since 2004 and biodynamically since 2006. Hand harvested, natural yeast fermentations, no chaptalisation. He produces a rosé, a méthode traditionnelle from gamay, and two cuvées of Beaujolais - all sold as Vin de France because, his wines once refused AC for being "atypical," so he has refused to submit them since. But if this isn't beautiful Gamay from Beaujolais, then what is!
