Marenas Vinedo y Bodega
José Miguel Márquez is on a mission to recover the old winemaking traditions of his native town Montilla in Córdoba. Although one of the youngest producers in the region, he is making some of the most exciting wines using traditional grapes like Pedro Ximenez and recovering other indigenous varieties like Montepila. He is passionate and dedicated; he truly treats each wine like they were one of his kids.
As an aficionado of everything natural, genuine and authentic, José makes sure his vineyards and wines are treated with the care and respect they deserve. Vineyards are farmed organically. Grass is grown to prevent soil erosion. Grapes are manually harvested at night in order to pick the freshest grapes possible. Wine is made with nothing but fermented juice. No filtration or additives of any type are used. The end result are natural wines expressive of their land and climate.
