Domaine du Jas
Located in the southern part of the Rhône Valley, the town of Suze la Rousse is known for its wines and the University of Wine located in the magnificent Château de Suze la Rousse.
From a long family history of winemakers and grape growers (since 1874), Hubert Pradelle owns 61 acres of vines planted on mainly clay and sandstone soils. The vines average 35 years of age. Hubert’s son, Pierre, started working with him in 2000 with the thought to change the viticulture practices to organic methods. Together Pierre and Hubert obtained AB (Agriculture Biologique) certification. Today, they choose to work the land with biodynamic methods. They use natural preparations derived from plant, animal and mineral substances to enhance the soil and the plant’s environment. Treatments and the work in the vineyard are done according to the biodynamic calendar.
