Vineyard Notes: The Davis Family Pinot Noir is crafted from all of the single vineyards each vintage. Only the bits and pieces left over from the Davis single vineyard Pinots are used and no lesser quality fruit! This is super cool because there is one vineyard from each neighborhood in Russian River Valley, which brings layers of complexity that keeps the flavors balanced but diverse. In some cases, the Russian River Valley can create a blend that rivals the single vineyards.

Winemaking Notes: The fermentation was conducted using native yeast in small, temperature-controlled, open-top fermentors. Gentle punch downs were done over a 3-4 week fermentation after a 5-7 day cold soak. The Pinot was then pressed and transferred directly into barrel using gravity flow. The Pinot Noir was aged in French oak for 10 months; 1/3 of the barrels were new, 1/3 were one year old, and 1/3 were 2 years old. The wine was bottled unfined and unfiltered.

Tasting Notes: Rich, balanced, and elegant, with beautiful red and dark fruit flavor, this blend is a perfect embodiment of all that the Russian River Valley has to offer in one deeply layered, complex wine.

Vintage Review by Vinous 8/3/2023: “After a very challenging 2020, Sonoma bounces back big time with a fabulous vintage in 2021. Bold Pinots, savory Syrahs, vibrant Chardonnays and nuanced Zinfandels are all part of the mix. Two thousand twenty-one is the best Sonoma vintage since 2018. While that may not be saying all that much in terms of the time elapsed, the 2021s are both very high in quality and consistent across the board. It’s a vintage full of stunning, compelling wines.”
