    The 2016 La Croix du Roy is a red Sancerre with substance, style and savory spice. It is shaking off its primary fruit and heading toward its first savory nuances. The palate is round and rich, offering layers of flavor from tea leaf and red cherry to a light cinnamon spice and vanillins. There's an abundance of chalky tannins and plentiful acidity keeping this fresh. The sense of grip is rather satisfying. Starting to drink well now but the concentration and structure suggest it still has plenty of time.
