Nardo is the ultimate expression of the Tuscan Coast’s native varieties. In recent years, it has become a super selection of the estate’s best vines/grapes. Some refer to Nardo as Eneo’s big brother.
Winemaking Notes: Nardo is built around a core of Sangiovese with Montepulciano, Alicante and Malvasia Nera. Grapes are manually harvested from 40-year-old vines. It ferments in 1,500-liter steet tanks. Aging occurs for 18 months in 400-liter tonneaux (40-70% new) and another 18 months in bottle before release. Malolactic fermentation occurs. The wine is not filtered.
Tasting Notes: The wine explodes on the palate with wild dark cherries, spices, licorice and leather. Nardo is a bit fuller than Eneo and more polished on the palate; it's smoother and richer yet has exceptional balance and purity.
