Vineyard Notes: Vines are sourced in the Rio Sordo valley on the south ridge that since 2006 takes the name of Tre Stelle MGA. Vines were planted between 1997 to 2005.

Winemaking Notes: The skins remain in contact with the must during fermentation for 28-30 days. Fermentation occurs naturally with native yeast. The skins are submersed during fermentation via pump overs. Malolactic fermentation completes in the cellar at temperature of 20°C (68°F). The wine ages in large traditional Slavonian and Swiss oak casks for 20 months and matures in the bottle for at least 8 months. No filtration or clarification is done before bottling.

Tasting Notes: Beautiful brilliant and transparent garnet red. Elegant notes of roses, violet, leather, red fruits, a fresh vein of minerality. Ethereal. Great finesse and silkiness in the tannins structure, classy and vertical. Very well balanced and with long persistence. Highly delightful even young for his great balance and elegance. Nebbiolo in all its beauty.

    Compared to the Rio Sordo, the Cascina delle Rose 2018 Barbaresco Tre Stelle is slightly more robust and open-knit. This wine shows a more overt concentration that comes across with blackberry and wild cherry. To the palate, it shows a smooth but nicely elaborate texture. There are light touches of crushed stone and even some tobacco on the close. Some 6,000 bottles were released.

    Fragrant and all about finesse, this radiant red offers enticing scents of perfumed red berries, rose, dark spice and crushed botanical herbs. On the extremely elegant, almost ethereal palate, bright acidity and taut, refined tannins accompany tart cherry, blood orange and star anise. A savory, almost salty mineral note lingers on the linear close. Drink 2023-2030.

    The 2018 Barbaresco Tre Stelle is a mid-weight, beautifully perfumed wine. Silky tannins and mid-weight structure make the 2018 extremely accessible even in the early going. Crushed flowers, spice, cedar and sweet pipe tobacco all grace this ethereal, wonderfully understated Barbaresco from Cascina dell Rose.
