Vineyard Notes: The Cascina delle Rose Barbera d’Alba is sourced from vineyards on the border between Rio Sordo and Tre Stelle that were planted in 1997. The terrain is complex with a prevalence of layers. The blue marl soil is at a depth from 1 to 3 meters. Cascina delle Rose practices organic farming.

Winemaking Notes: Harvest is manual. Fermentation occurs naturally with native yeast. The skins are submersed during fermentation via pump overs for around 15 days. The wine undergoes malolactic fermentation. It ages around 15 months in traditional Slavonian oak casks of 10 and 20 hectoliters in size. The wine is not filtered or fined. Total sulfites are low around 40 mg/l.

Tasting Notes: The Cascina delle Rose Barbera d'Alba is bright and lively with red fruit and wild red berries. It shows impressive finesse and beautiful acid structure. Harmonic finish and persistent. Enjoy this dynamic red wine with on its own or with pizza, burgers, red meat dishes, and more.

Another nice and accessibly priced Barbera from this estate, the Cascina delle Rose 2019 Barbera d'Alba offers a pure expression of the grape with bright cherry and cassis. The fruit is tart, fresh and characterized by lots of fresh and food-friendly acidity. This is a terrific wine to pair with a hearty dish of ravioli stuffed with cheese and spinach.

The 2019 Barbera d'Alba is a soft, fruity wine to drink now and over the next few years, while the red cherry/plum fruit remains vibrant. Cedar, spice and tobacco add attractive aromatic dimension.
