Vineyard Notes: The vineyard is planted to a mix of Clones 7 and 8 on a steep and rocky plot on Atlas Peak.
Vintage Notes: After several years of drought and the North Bay fires at the end of the 2017 harvest, the 2018 vintage was a welcome return to "normal." The winter was cool with steady rainfall that delayed bud break by about 3-4 weeks compared to the previous years of drought and irregularly warm winters. The flowering period had a minimal amount of rain and wind, which provided for nearly ideal fruit set. The rest of the growing season experienced cool and foggy mornings that allowed for the grapes to ripen slowly. The California harvest was long, starting on August 22nd and ending on October 30th.
Wine Notes: The Cabernet was harvested from October 15th to October 22nd, 2018. The grapes were fully destemmed and fermented in stainless steel tanks for up to 29 days. After pressing, the wine aged in 56% neutral and 44% new French oak barrels for 22 months before bottling unfined and unfiltered on August 21st 2020.
Tasting Notes: Wild Sage, Black Cherry, Clove
