MunJebel Rosso is a rich and fragrant wine of pure Nerello Mascalese from different vineyards. This is Frank’s vision of a traditional, balanced, and rich northern valley Etna wine. Vineyard sources include some of Frank’s crus (Zottorinoto-Chiusa Spagnolo, Feudo di Mezzo-Porcaria, and Piano dei Daini) as well as designated vineyards for this specific wine (Rampante, Piano Daini and Crasà). The vines are 60+ years old.

Vintage Notes: The 2018 vintage was a rainy season. The wines taste lighter and more Beaujolais-like. Frank literally said, "Everything was upside down." 2018s are still good, but just different from the regular, bolder style.

Winemaking Notes: All of Frank's red wines are produced the same way. Grapes are destemmed and lightly crushed before a 60-day skin fermentation with wild yeast in neutral epoxy tanks (2,500-7,000 liters or 1,500-2,500 liters for crus). Wines are not fined. They are filtered before bottling with cartridges of 3-5 micron. Additions of SO2 can vary from 0 to 30 mg/L depending on the quality of grapes and stability of the wine.
