Vineyard Notes: Avonlea Vineyard is Wyncroft’s flagship, planted with Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon and Riesling in 1990. It is a ten-acre precious plot of land located just ten miles off the Lake Michigan coast. Five acres are dedicated to Chardonnay vines.
Winemaking Notes: The Avonlea Chardonnay is a barrel-fermented wine using Burgundy yeast. The wine is aged for around 18 months in a combination of used and new French oak. The wine undergoes malolactic fermentation.
Tasting Notes: Stylistically similar to classic Burgundian wines barrel-aged in french oak, this wine is rich and elegant; golden delicious apples, ripened pears, buttery lemon curd, vanilla, hazelnut and truffle undertones are well integrated and balanced. Pair the Wyncroft Avonlea Chardonnay with crispy, skin-on chicken, pork, rich fish dishes, anything with a cream sauce or mushrooms, or movie night on the couch!
