Winemaking Notes: Fermentation occurred naturally in 27-hectoliter oak tanks. The Nebbiolo macerated on the skins for 36 days, the Vespolina 32 days and the Croatina 24 days. Malolactic fermentation happened in the spring. The wine aged in the oak tanks for 20 months. Sulfite additions were low.

Vineyard Notes: The grapes were sourced from two vineyards: Brusnengo (an old cru of 1.4 hectares) and Le Pianelle (around 2 Hectares). The soil is volcanic with a pH of 4.6.

Tasting Notes: This is a wine with great personality—elegance, structure, and the distinctive attributes of northern Piedmont and its terroir, expressed in vivid minerality.

Le Pianelle's 2013 Bramaterra is outrageously beautiful. Dramatic and ample on the palate, the 2013 is endowed with tons of character. The macerated dark cherry, plum, violet, lavender and clove flavors are boldly sketched. In the glass, the 2013 speaks with authority and real sense of power. Today, the 2013 is quite reticent. Even so, its inner sweetness, breadth and overall balance are the stuff dreams are made of. Put simply, the 2013 is a total knockout. In a word: superb. Don't miss it.
