Vintage Notes by Wine Advocate 5/2019: "2018 brought 'grapes of great purity and richness. Rarely has nature been so generous both in the quantity of grapes and in the quality of the wine,' says the domaine’s the vintage report, summarizing a harvest that took place under 'idyllic conditions' toward the end of the season...Although the 2018s already taste beautiful, these wines can be cellared for decades. There is no lack of freshness nor of purity, and the body weight is perfectly balanced."

Le Haut-Lieu Vineyard: The original Huet vineyard, purchased in 1928, is nearly 9 HA. It has the richest soils of the domaine’s three crus—a deep limestone-clay—and the wines are generally the estate’s most approachable. This vineyard is on the plateau, one of the highest points of the appellation with a slight south-facing gradient. Biodynamic since 1993.

  • The Wine Spectator
    Rating: 93 (11/15/2019)

This caresses the palate, featuring bittersweet almond paste flavors up front, followed by mirabelle plum, apricot and mango notes. Racy acidity and a minerally spine create serious structure. Complex, with a persistent finish. Drink now through 2034.

The 2018 Vouvray Le Haut-Lieu Moelleux Première Trie is deep and intense yet pure and chalky on the distinctive, slightly flinty and yeasty nougat-scented nose. Vital, vibrantly fresh and tight yet fine and pure on the playful palate, this is an intense, sweet and impressively rich Chenin with tension, salt and finesse as well as fine but grippy tannins. This is an exciting Haut-Lieu that is already dangerously ready to drink but will become even more complex and dimensioned with bottle age. Definitely the Haut-Lieu of the vintage!
