Vineyard Notes: Enderle and Moll's vines are among the oldest Pinot Noir vines in Baden. The Liaison Pinot Noir, a sort of middle-wine-premier-cur-style, is made from vines between 40 and 45 years. Enderle and Moll farm all the vineyards organically and biodynamically. Absolutely everything is done by hand in the vineyards, which are quite steep. The soils contain both sandstone and limestone.

Winemaking Notes: Enderle and Moll take a more hands-off approach to winemaking than most of their neighbors who have transitioned to more modern methods and technology. Much of the fruit is foot-stomped, and they use a mixture of whole-cluster bunches and destemmed clusters. Punch downs are manual. The natural fermentation takes two to three weeks before the pressing with an old, horizontal screw press. They have a direct line on barrels from a small Burgundy estate called Domaine Dujac, which range from one to over five years of age. The wine matures for 12-15 months in these used barriques. Liaison is bottled neither fined nor filtered and with minimal sulfites.

Tasting Notes: This ruby red Pinot Noir is a delicious and food friendly wine. Aromatics include blackberries and cranberries. On the palate, notes of cherries, raspberry and spice. Tannins are silky and complemented by a touch of acidity.

90pts (2016 Vintage) Wine Advocate 1/31/2020
"It is still very closed more than two years after the harvest, although it has been only slightly (if at all) sulfured. Cherry and sloe aromas along with floral notes dominate the fresh and tangy nose that asks for a lot of aeration (think of hours or even a day rather than minutes). The palate of this unfiltered and refined red is silky/velvety textured, dense and juicy but also concentrated, firm and terribly fresh, with youthful acidity and a straightforward character."
