Winemaking Notes: The grapes are gently crushed and dropped into 1.5 ton bins for a 24-hour cold soak. The wine is then inoculated with a variety of yeast and hand punched until fermentation slows. The tanks are pressed directly to barrels, where the wine finishes both primary and secondary fermentation. The individual lots of wine that comprise the Cabernet Sauvignon are kept separate for 22 months before they are blended.

Tasting Notes: The wine opens with aromas of dark fruit notes, think blackberry and black currant, with a concentrated hint of sage. The palate shows fruit flavors of both black and blue fruit along with notes of understated cedar and dark chocolate. The wine finishes with a long finish of smooth cigar tobacco.

The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Columbia Valley (91% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Petit Verdot) is another ripe, forward, well-made wine from this estate. Lots of blackberries, spiced meats, and baking chocolate notes flow to a medium-bodied, spicy, undeniably delicious Cabernet that's ideal for drinking over the coming 7-8 years.

    Rating: 89+ (5/21/2020)

Blended with 4% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon has a core of black and red fruit on the nose along with soft sweet oak tones that sway out of the glass with cinnamon, nutmeg and cardamom aromas. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is ripe and open-knit, with a balanced structure, lifting tannins and energetic acidity. The finish lingers with oak essence and dusty blackberry tones. This is accessible and ready to drink now. It’s delicious.
