Winemaking Notes: This is a fresh interpretation of classic California winemaking. The Chardonnay is grown on the Scribe estate in rich Huichica loam, composed over time by volcanic, rhyolitic ash from the nearby Mayacamas range. After a series of trials and experiments in their early years, Scribe's winemakers eventually decided to age all of their Chardonnay in Sonoma-made concrete tanks, and allow it to rest on its lees as long as possible without any oak barrel contact.
Vintage Notes: 2016 was Sonoma's third consecutive warm winter, prompting and early start to the growing season. March frosts slightly thinned what would become a warm, healthy vintage. As harvest started early in August the weather cooled and fruit quality soared, prompting a balanced and beautiful vintage.
Tasting Notes: This Chardonnay is a powerful, mineral white wine, full of earth tones that express Scribe's geological history.
