Lanson's NV Green Label Brut is the house's first organically—even biodynamically—farmed Champagne. The Green Label is certified by the Agriculture Biologique, Demeter and Ecocert. The blend is exclusively sourced from an estate vineyard at Verneuil in the heart of the Marne Valley.

The Green Label is part of Lanson's overall approach to respecting the environment. In addition to the farming, the bottles are lightweight, and the labels are made of recycled paper. Inspired by nature, Lanson has chosen to combine the color green with its distinctive emblem, the Lanson cross.

Tasting Notes: Like all of Lanson's Champagnes, the Green Label is mostly composed of Pinot Noir. It does not undergo malolactic fermentation to preserve the original purity and freshness of the wine. After three years in the cellar, the wine is characterized by its elegant, mineral purity. Enjoy notes of pear, peach, blackcurrant, hints of citrus, mango, and Asian spices.

The intensely straw-yellow colored wine shows a nicely clear, fresh and aromatic yet delicate bouquet with flowery, brioche and some nutty aromas of ripe white fruits such as pears and apples along with some lemon notes. The palate is lean, light but intense, dry, fresh and elegant and is provided with ripe, well-textured fruit, good structure and stimulating citrus flavors in the persistent finish. This is a characterful new entry into the Lanson portfolio and indeed more than just greenwashing. It's great as an aperitif and with white fish.

Racy acidity enlivens this lithe and vibrant Champagne, with the finely detailed mousse carrying well-knit flavors of black currant, slivered almond and whole-grain toast, revealing apple blossom, chalk and citrus accents on the finish. Drink now thought 2024.

Disgorged in March 2018, the latest release of Lanson's NV Brut Green Label is showing very well, offering up aromas of buttered green orchard fruit, waxy citrus rind, white flowers and brioche. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, lively and charming, with a crisply fleshy core of fruit, ripe but racy acids, and a nicely defined finish. It's a Pinot Noir-domainted blend sourced from an estate vineyard in Verneuil, and the grapes from which it is made are certified organic.
