Winemaker Notes: The fruit for this 2014 Pinot Noir came from the certified organic Le Puits Sec Vineyard, sourced from 28 year old vines. Harvested occurred in mid-September of 2015. The grapes macerated for 21 days, seeing a twice-daily pump over for two days followed by a twice-daily punch down. The wine aged in 10% new oak for 18 months. It was bottled without fining or filtering.

Tasting Notes: There is a density of fruit and tannin in this 2014 Cru wine. Plum, violet, forest floor and dried Provencal herbs flows to more plum with raspberry coming in and finishing with a firm, but medium weight, potpourri, and a touch of dried leaves.

"Assertive raspberry, incense, spicecake and floral scents are complemented by building suggestions of cola and musky earth. Silky and energetic on the palate, offering appealingly sweet red fruit liqueur, lavender pastille and spicecake flavors that possess a compelling blend of depth and vivacity. Shows outstanding clarity and floral drive on a strikingly long finish that features velvety tannins and a hint of Chambord."

93pts (2016 Vintage) Vinous 6/13/2019
"Spice-tinged black raspberry and cherry scents are complicated by suggestions of potpourri, musky earth and smoky minerals. Sweet and expansive on the palate, offering chewy red/dark berry, bitter cherry and violet pastille flavors that are lifted and given spine by a core of zesty acidity. Finishes with bright, mineral punch, building tannins and impressive, spice- and floral-driven persistence. (15% new French oak)"

93 Points (2017 Vintage) James Suckling 1/21/20
"Attractively complex aromas of spiced red fruit with a sappy, forest-wood edge, as well as stones and chalk. The palate carries a lithe, detailed brand of tannin with mouthwatering, red-fruit flavors and a juicy, upbeat finish. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold."

Ripe red and blue fruits, incense and Asian spices on the deeply perfumed nose. Stains the palate with sweet black raspberry and boysenberry flavors that are firmed by a core of juicy acidity and given a spicy edge by a hint of white pepper. Delivers a solid punch but comes off lively and precise, showing strong blue fruit drive on an impressively long finish framed by harmonious tannins.
