Florian Schuhmann is a quiet, reserved and wildly smart young Austrian who is tackling the oft-maligned Weinviertel (an area known in the US largely as the home of cheap, bulk Grüner Veltliners) and finding singular vinous expressions.
Farming only a few hectares completely on his own, the winemaking is endlessly experimental, and well, the wines are actually delicious. You want to drink them. The winery is named Quantum because the estate has no plans to grow any larger; quantities are never going to be more than a dollop of cases once a year.
