About Dundee Hills AVA: Geologically, the Dundee Hills consists of a single, continuous landmass that rises above the surrounding Willamette Valley floor. It is part of a hill chain that developed as a result of volcanic activity and the collision of the Pacific and North American plates. Located about 28 miles southwest of Portland and 40 miles inland from the Oregon coast, this growing area is protected from severe weather by the coast range.

90pts (2014 Vintage) Vinous 12/15/2016
"Light bright red. Fresh red berries, candied rose and a subtle touch of orange pith on the incisive nose. Brisk and racy on entry and then more fleshy in the middle, offering gently sweet raspberry and spicecake flavors and a touch of cola. Shows very good clarity and spicy lift on a long, focused finish that's given shape by fine-grained tannins. This is a decidedly elegant rendition of 2014 and pretty tasty right now."

The 2013 Dundee Hills Cuvée Pinot Noir was cropped at 2.5 tons per acre between September 27 and October 4, spending 18 months in barriques (25% new oak). It has a lifted nose of red berry fruit, briary and rose petal scents mixed with damp undergrowth, all nicely defined. The palate is well balanced with crisp acidity, bright red cherry and strawberry fruit, elegant and nicely poised all the way to the finish. This is a delightful Pinot from Jay Somers.

(Year's Best US Pinot Noir) The pure red-fruited drive of Dundee Hills Pinot comes through in this fresh, generous 2013, lent complexity by some pipe-tobacco spiciness and dusty mineral falvor. It's simple, but irresistible. For pork loin.
