Triassico is pure Sangiovese from the red land of the Triassico Age, in numbered magnums. This wine was produced for Montenidoli's Sergio Il Patriarca Onlus non-profit foundation.

Triassico is a wine made from Sangiovese grapes grown on a plot called La Pianore on Montenidoli's estate. At 450 meters above sea level, it is San Gimignano’s highest vineyard. It is situated amidst oak woods with an absolutely unique soil that is composed of deep limestone rich in iron and magnesium. The viticulture practices have minimal environment impact. The soil was not plowed or broken up when the vines were planted. The vineyard has never seen fertilizers of any kind. The grass cover is spontaneous, and the earth around the plants is worked entirely by hand. Spraying is restricted to a limited number of treatments with traditional Bordeaux mixture. The vines are trained on the Goblet system, with the young shoots supported by four wires fixed on chestnut poles prepared on the estate. There is neither cane topping nor green harvesting. In these conditions the vines grow very slowly, only beginning to produce their first grapes after five or six years. The yields per vine are extremely low. All of this might seem uneconomical, but in fact it is the only way to ensure a healthy, robust vineyard which will last for many decades. Only in this way is it possible to extract the maximum from the terroir. The result are magnificent wines of depth, elegance and longevity.
