When the King Fire disrupted La Clarine Farm's harvest plans in 2014, Hank Beckmeyer had already picked half of the Josephine+Mariposa blend, which included Grenache and Cinsault from the Swansborough Vineyard. Because of the fire, they were unable to harvest the rest of the grapes for the wine. They were left with a Josphine but no Mariposa so to speak. The beauty of the Grenache and Cinsault co-ferment began to shine and thus Priscilla was born.
Winemaking Notes: The grapes were whole cluster fermented with native yeast for 5 days on the skins. The wine aged entirely in Flextank for 16 months, without racking. A small amount of sulfites was added at bottling (15ppm).
Tasting Notes: The La Clarine Farm Priscilla is a great companion to the more robust and darker-toned La Clarine Farm Elvis blend . The wine shows wonderful floral aromas, a touch of lavender and bright red fruit. The wine is medium-bodied with just enough acid and tannin grip. The finish is long with great mineral notes that Grenache shows when grown on rock.
